Pita Sharples

Pita was born in 1941 at waipawa in Hawke's Bay

He was educated at Takapau Primary,

Waipukurau District High.

Te Aute College,Auckland Teacher training.

Pita wants to make sure that being Maori is something to be proud of.

He identifies Maori as tangata whenua, The first people of of the land Aotearoa.

It will take several pages to list the different roles pita has played and plays in society.

Pita’s works in the community has impacted on individuals, families and group. For example, he created one of the first restorative justice programmes in New Zealand.
